What we collect and why
Accounts store your email address and a securely hashed password. Saved carbon estimates contain your inputs, factors, results, reduction scenario and date. Saved home plans contain the answers and plan you choose to save. Enquiries contain your name, email, organisation, message and preferences. Directory applications include business details, evidence and review records. Newsletter preferences include your verified email, subscription status and consent date. Technical logs and account-security records support operation and protection of the service.
We use information to provide the account and services you request, handle enquiries and applications, and protect the website. Our lawful bases, as applicable, are providing requested services or taking steps at your request before a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and consent for optional marketing and directory publication. We may retain information where a specific legal obligation requires it.
Hosting, email and other providers
In Morocco Solutions provides website hosting and email, with storage in Morocco. This involves processing outside the UK. Authorised providers process information needed to deliver their services. For details of provider arrangements, overseas processing or safeguards applicable to your information, contact us at the address above.
Climate questions are sent to OpenAI for answers and, when selected, web search. Do not include confidential or personal details in questions. The platform does not save question history; server and provider processing may still apply. Newsletter delivery is not yet connected. Payments and real contribution-certificate issuance are disabled.
How long information is kept
Our retention policy is to review inactive accounts for deletion after 24 months of inactivity and delete closed enquiries after 12 months, unless a continuing purpose or legal requirement justifies keeping particular records. This is managed through periodic review; automatic expiry is not enabled. Information associated with an ongoing account or application is kept while needed to provide that service. You can request earlier deletion, subject to applicable exceptions.
Deleted information may remain in restricted recovery backups until those copies are replaced or removed. A fixed expiry for provider-managed backup copies has not yet been confirmed. We will not give you an unverified deletion deadline; contact us if backup retention affects your request. Security records and consent-preference records are kept only as needed for their purpose and reviewed separately.
Directory publication and access
Accepted company profiles are published only with the applicant's publication permission. Public details may include business name, role, category, areas served, website and description. Contact details, evidence and internal reviewer notes are not included in the public profile. Authorised reviewers can access applications and evidence; applicants can see their review messages. Withdraw publication permission through the application view. Public information may have been copied or cached elsewhere.
Your controls and rights
Use My account to access, export or delete available saved records and manage your account. Newsletter preferences are managed using the verified account address. Optional preferences do not authorise unrelated marketing. Essential session cookies support sign-in and account security.
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing already carried out. Contact info@iamzerocarbon.co.uk; we will verify your request appropriately and explain any applicable limits. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Do not send passwords or sensitive personal information in general enquiries.
